Safari Ideas With Boat Cruise

Murchison Falls Nile Cruise

A 3-hour launch cruise from Paraa upstream to the base of Murchison Falls, where the entire Nile compresses to 7 metres before plunging 45 metres. En route: massive hippo pods surfacing alongside the boat, Nile crocodiles basking on sandbanks, elephant herds wading to drink, buffalo grazing on grassy banks, and over 450 bird species, including the shoebill stork in adjacent wetlands.

Wildlife comes to the water, and you drift past in complete comfort as the banks become increasingly dense with animal life. The dramatic crescendo of arriving at the falls’ base, drenched in spray and overwhelmed by sound, makes this one of Africa’s most cinematic experiences. Afternoon light is perfect for photography.

Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Afternoon golden light turns every photograph into a masterpiece. Wildlife density along the channel banks rivals the Kazinga’s reputation as one of the world’s best wildlife photography corridors. Animals are entirely undisturbed by the slow-moving vessel approaching at water level.

Lake Kivu Kayaking & Boat Tours

Paddle through the 100+ islands of Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s Great Lakes, by kayak or traditional wooden boat. Lake Kivu provides essential relaxation and scenic beauty after the intensity of gorilla trekking.

The lake’s proximity to Volcanoes NP makes it a natural post-trek wind-down. Swimming in an African Great Lake between volcanic islands is an experience few travellers ever have.

Lake Bunyonyi Relaxation & Canoeing

Located between Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth on the main Uganda safari route, Lake Bunyonyi provides the ideal overnight relaxation stop. After the physical demands of gorilla trekking, a night on its peaceful shores restores both body and perspective.
