6 breakfasts, 5 lunchs and 5 dinners
After an early breakfast, depart your hotel for Lake Mburo National Park. En route, stop at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers, where artisans demonstrate traditional handcrafting methods used to make ceremonial drums.
Continue to the Equator for photographs before arriving at Lake Mburo National Park. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive along the lakeshore and the scenic Kigambara Loop, an area known for its wildlife trails and guided nature walks.
Lake Mburo offers excellent opportunities to see zebras, impalas, buffaloes, elands, Uganda kobs, warthogs, hippos, and a wide variety of birds. Your guide will follow park regulations and maintain a respectful distance from all wildlife.
After breakfast, travel west through the beautiful landscapes of the Western Rift Valley. As you approach Queen Elizabeth National Park, take in sweeping views of Lakes George and Edward and the surrounding savannah.
In the afternoon, enjoy a two-hour boat safari along the Kazinga Channel toward Lake Edward. The channel links Lakes George and Edward and attracts large numbers of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and waterbirds, offering outstanding wildlife viewing from the water.
Spend the day exploring Queen Elizabeth National Park on two game drives. The park’s varied ecosystems include open grasslands, tropical forest, wetlands, volcanic craters, rivers, and lakes, creating rich habitat for wildlife and birds.
With the Rwenzori Mountains as a scenic backdrop, look for lions, leopards, African elephants, Cape buffaloes, Uganda kobs, topi, bushbuck, Defassa waterbuck, giant forest hogs, and many bird species.
Your professional guide will share insights into the connections between wildlife, local communities, and conservation, while ensuring safe and respectful game viewing. Queen Elizabeth National Park is also known for chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge and its exceptional birdlife.
Set off early for Kyambura Gorge for a guided forest walk. This lush riverine forest is home to primates, birds, butterflies, and other woodland species. Chimpanzee sightings are possible but cannot be guaranteed, as wildlife movements depend on natural conditions.
Continue toward Masaka, stopping for lunch in Mbarara, before traveling to the ferry crossing for Bugala Island in the Ssese Islands. Arrive in the early evening and settle into your lakeside accommodation.
This day combines forest exploration, scenic countryside travel, conservation experiences, and the warm hospitality of communities along Uganda’s western travel corridor.
After breakfast, explore Bugala Island, the largest of the Ssese Islands. Enjoy a relaxed guided nature walk through the island’s landscapes, where you may encounter monkeys, colorful birds including grey parrots, butterflies, and other insects.
Take time to experience everyday island life, learn about the local environment, and support community livelihoods through responsible visits, local guiding, and purchases from small businesses and artisans.
After breakfast, travel back to the mainland and continue to Entebbe. You will be dropped off at Papyrus Guest House, where your safari ends.
This itinerary combines two of Uganda’s rewarding national parks with the tranquil Ssese Islands, offering a balanced mix of wildlife, scenery, culture, and relaxation. Lake Mburo is known for its compact savannah landscapes and wildlife-rich trails, while Queen Elizabeth National Park is celebrated for its Kazinga Channel boat safari, varied habitats, and rich birdlife. The Ssese Islands add a slower-paced conclusion to the journey, with Lake Victoria views, forest walks, and genuine community encounters.
