On arrival, you are met by your safari driver-guide and begin your journey to western Uganda. The drive to Kibale takes you through Uganda’s countryside, with views of tea plantations, banana gardens, and the dramatic landscapes of the Rift Valley.
You arrive in the afternoon or evening and check in at your lodge near Kibale Forest. Depending on arrival time, you may enjoy a relaxed dinner and briefing from your guide about the days ahead.
After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a chimpanzee tracking briefing. Kibale is one of the best places in Africa to observe chimpanzees in the wild, and the tracking experience often begins with a walk through lush tropical forest filled with bird calls and other primates.
Once the chimps are located, you spend time observing them as they feed, groom, call, and move through the trees. After the trek, you return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
In the afternoon, you may take a Bigodi wetland walk or community visit to experience local culture and birdlife. This is also a great day for photography and slower nature appreciation.
After breakfast, travel south to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The route passes through scenic crater lakes and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains, making the drive itself part of the experience.
You arrive in time for lunch and later set out for an afternoon game drive in the Kasenyi plains or other wildlife areas of the park. This is a good introduction to Uganda’s savannah wildlife, with opportunities to see elephants, buffalo, warthogs, antelope, and, if lucky, lions.
Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Rise early for a morning game drive when animals are most active. This is one of the best times to spot predators and large herbivores before the heat of the day sets in.
After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. The cruise offers close views of hippos, crocodiles, elephants along the shoreline, and a wide variety of waterbirds.
This is one of the signature experiences of the safari and is often a guest favorite because of the abundance of wildlife and relaxed pace.
After breakfast, leave Queen Elizabeth and drive toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. If the route passes through the Ishasha sector, you may enjoy a game drive in search of the famous tree-climbing lions, a rare highlight of this region.
Continue to Bwindi, where the scenery changes into steep hills, dense forest, and misty mountain landscapes. Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon or evening, check in, and prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.
A safari briefing may be provided by your guide to explain trekking rules, permit requirements, and what to carry.
This is the most anticipated day of the safari. After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing before entering the forest with ranger guides.
The trek may take anywhere from a short walk to several hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family assigned to you. Once found, you spend one unforgettable hour observing the gorillas as they feed, play, rest, and interact in their natural habitat.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. You may spend the rest of the day resting, taking a community walk, or simply enjoying the forest views.
After breakfast, travel to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Uganda’s most scenic and peaceful destinations. The lake is surrounded by terraced hills and dotted with small islands, creating a beautiful setting for relaxation after the gorilla trek.
Spend the day enjoying the calm atmosphere, with options such as a canoe ride, boat trip, birdwatching, swimming, or a nature walk. This day provides a softer transition before the long journey back to Kampala or Entebbe.
After breakfast, begin the drive back to Kampala or Entebbe. You may stop at the Equator for photos, souvenir shopping, and lunch depending on the route and timing.
Arrive in the afternoon or evening, where your safari ends with drop-off at your hotel, residence, or airport.
